The Brief
Stories runs from pastries and tea in the morning to platters at dinner and martinis at the bar, all in one marble-and-gold room. A place with that many hours needs a reason to visit at every one of them.
The Idea
Four reels, four moments in the day. Each is told as its own short chapter: pastries and tea, platters from the kitchen, the cocktail list, and one martini made from start to finish.
How We Made It
The pastry reel works close: coulis flicked across a white plate before the cheesecake goes down, chocolate drizzled over a croissant, tea poured from a white pot, a pastry pulled apart. The food reel opens on a pan flaring up and ends with a platter set down in a pool of light on a dark table. In the cocktail reel the bartender slides each drink across the marble towards the lens, and an olive dropped into a martini throws a splash. The martini reel stays on one frame of him at the bar, from icing the glass to the garnish, with split screens to compress the stirring.
