The Brief
Rhapsody's bar is lit in deep blue, and its drinks lean on showmanship: colour that changes as you pour, smoke under glass, a sugar-skull mug dressed with flowers. There was a burger to push too. All of it had to feel like an event, even on a small screen.
The Idea
We made one effect the hero of each reel. Fire for the burger, a colour change for the drink in the ice bowl, the full build for the skull mug and a cloud of smoke for the stirred drink, all against the same blue light so the set reads as one bar.
How We Made It
The burger sits still on its board while flame and sparks burst behind it, with whip cuts between takes and a hand pressing the bun to finish. The drinks are shot tight on the bar with hands only and every step shown: jiggers, shaker, strainer, garnish placed with tweezers. In the ice-bowl drink the purple deepens as the last pour goes in and fog spills over the crushed ice; the stirred drink ends with a smoke-filled tube lifted away. The blue light strips behind the bar run through every frame.
