The Brief
Quays serves plated dishes, pasta, tacos, fish and a layered dessert, in a warm, wood-panelled room. Showing a menu is one problem. Making someone feel the first bite is another.
The Idea
Two reels, two speeds. One shows the menu as a rhythm of plates set down and taken away in the same spot; the other slows right down and stays on the first cut, the first twirl, the first spoonful.
How We Made It
The plate reel is a locked side-on frame on a dark marble ledge with the wood panels soft behind, and a hand sets each dish down and lifts it away. The tasting reel is shot at table height with the rest of the spread and the wine glasses out of focus behind. A fork twirls pasta, a spoon breaks into a layered dessert topped with strawberry, and a knife works through meat on green mash under a charred lemon. Long takes and warm light let each bite play out.
