The Brief
Slunchies gives fast food a local twist, with a burger that swaps the bun for pressed plantain and pastries folded by hand in the kitchen. Twists like that only sell if people can see them; on a menu board they just read as another burger.
The Idea
We filmed the twist as the story. The burger reel builds up to the moment the plantain goes on top, and the pastry reel starts from flat rounds of dough, so the handmade part is what you remember.
How We Made It
The kitchen reels are built from close process shots: purple cabbage shredded, a ripe plantain pressed flat in a ring, cutlets breaded and fried golden, pastries filled, folded and crimped, then sauce drizzled from a red bottle. The finished food sits on Slunchies' green printed paper beside their red and green boxes. The drinks reel changes tone completely: bright juices in can-shaped cups, lit hard so the colour glows, with smoke drifting across.
