The Brief
Elysium is several places under one name: a restaurant, a bar, a café, a terrace and a hookah lounge. That is a lot to explain, and people tend to remember a venue for one thing only. The films had to make the whole building worth a visit.
The Idea
We gave each side of Elysium its own reel and one signature to remember it by. The hanging kebab for the kitchen, a splash and a smoking line-up for the bar, layered lattes and a torn croissant for the café, and a walk-through that ties them together.
How We Made It
The kitchen reel opens on the kebab hanging over its rice, sauces lined up below and the waiting staff moving in the soft background, then cheese grated from the block over pasta. At the bar we caught a slow-motion splash leaping out of a coupe and a row of finished drinks with smoke rolling along the counter. The space reel moves from the lit sign past the House Rules wall and the café counter, through the white arch onto the terrace, and into the hookah lounge. The café reel is brighter and closer: milk steaming, espresso poured over milk so the glass layers, a croissant pulled apart.
